Hey guys, Steven here with our picks for Disney's Top 10 Songs. Now I set myself something of a guideline for this Top 10 list. That guideline was that I couldn't use more than 1 song from a Disney film. This was so there would be equal distributions and movies (and/or) songs that aren't usually considered would be. Honorable mentions go to: "A Star is Born" (Hercules), "The Siamese Cat Song" (Lady and the Tramp) and "Oo De Lally" (Robin Hood). Anyway, let's begin!
#10 "Let It Go" - Frozen
How could this not make the list when this song was a bigger hit than the movie itself (and the movie was a hit mostly due to this damn song!) With all the covers and plethora of parodies this catchy song is bound to be stuck in your head.
#9 "When You Wish Upon a Star" - Pinocchio
Well Jimmy Cricket if this song doesn't represent the history of Disney and Disney music. This song symbolises a lot of the magic and wonder of what Disney stands for, and damned if it isn't a good tune too.
#8 "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat" - Aristocats
Jazz and cats. This Disney song brings the house down. You can't say much more than that. You have to feel the jazz.
#7 "Colors of the Wind" - Pocahontas
Now as far as I'm aware, the wind isn't coloured. Of course, that's not what the song is about, the songs deep meaning about man's connectedness with nature and living in harmony with the Earth not only has a brilliant message but really has that Native American feel to it. A truly wondrous and epic Disney song for the ages.
#6 "Son of Man" - Tarzan
Besides my bias of absolutely loving Tarzan and having blasted this song as a kid while I ran around my house on all fours like Tarzan and climbing my tree out the front, the whole song shows Tarzan's transition from a fun loving kid to the strong leader he needed to be in order to fit in. Plus Phil Collins is amazing.
#5 "Arabian Nights" - Aladdin
Another of Disney's most epic songs. Really setting the historical and cultural vibe of the Aladdin film, it was a hard one to pick with excellent songs like: One Step Ahead and Prince Ali. But the epic feel of the song set the the awe inspiring desert of the mythical Arabia presented in Aladdin it's hard not to be in the top 10.
#4 "I Wanna Be Like You" - The Jungle Book
Now, when
people think of the Jungle Book you'd probably think the first choice
would be the Bare Necessities, because that song rocks. However, when
it comes to grooving and swinging "I Wanna Be Like You" is just too damn
fun to not have this spot.
#3 "He Lives In You" - The Lion King II: Simba's Pride
Now this song was one of the greatest things in the film, so great in fact, that they incorporated this song into The Lion King Broadway musical. The song is deep, haunting, beautiful and echoes sentiments and references to the first Lion King film.
#2 "I'll Make a Man Out of You" - Mulan
Basically one of the greatest Disney songs ever. Fun to sing, fun to dance to, fun to parody, just a fun awesome song that never loses the slightest amount of enjoyment no matter how many times you sing it. It's like Disney's Bohemian Rhapsody.
#1 "Circle of Life" - The Lion King
Now it was definitely a hard pick from the Lion King, with awesome song's like Hakuna Mutata and Be Prepared. But when it comes down to it, Circle of Life is just to damn epic. From the African singing at the beginning transitioning over into the song, the deepness of the lyrics. This is Disney's ultimate song from it's ultimate movie. Anyway thanks for reading!
