NEW! Final Fantasy Agito Announced!

Hi everyone it's Xebs, Famitsu magazine has surprisingly announcement that SQUARE-ENIX still has a desire to bring the game to the mobile platform as Final Fantasy Agito, a new free-to-play game based on the Type-0 universe that will release in Japan next year in 2014.

Here are the details:
Platforms: iOS, Android (Free-to-Play with in-App Purchases)
Director: Masayasu Nishida (Star Ocean series)
Producer: Hajime Tabata (Final Fantasy Type-0)
Art Director: Sayoko Hoshino (Final Fantasy Type-0)
Composer: Takeharu Ishimoto (Final Fantasy Type-0)

Revealed in this week’s Famitsu, the game will return players to the world of Orience, set in the Fabula Nova Crystallis lore that encompasses the Final Fantasy XIII series and Final Fantasy XV. The game will be told in chapters released in a bi-weekly fashion that will change based on decisions you make in the game. The cast of Final Fantasy Type-0, such as Machina, Rem, and Ace will return, though their roles are secondary to a new character: Myuu Kagerohi, a new heroine that will be featured in the title. She is voiced by Haruka Tomatsu, who also did Sword Art Online, Inazuma Eleven Go. In the two week periods between new chapters, you’ll have ten days to play solo as you will, but the last four will require you to team up with other players to accomplish the various missions the game will send you on.

The game will feature a job system where players can learn abilities from different roles as they progress. If you should fall in battle, the game will have paid microtransactions to restore your health sooner rather than later, similar to last year’s Guardian Cross. It should be noted that this “gachapon” type of design generally funnels players attention into the microtransaction screen in order to continue playing. The game’s graphics are said to be an improvement over the original release, and producer Tabata commented that he hopes players that are unfamiliar with Final Fantasy Type-0 will download the game and enjoy it. More information about the game will likely come at next week’s Tokyo Game Show. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy Type-0 remains unlocalized in the US and Europe, with CEO Phil Rogers commenting that he hopes to explain the situation with the game’s localization status soon. It should be noted that two months have elapsed since then.
